Chinchin (Chinlianlal) Tungnung has been at Lamar since 2017, and is from the state of Manipur in India. He belongs to the Zo Tribe (a people group from India and Myanmar). He is instrumental in organizing the migrant Zo community from Myanmar to be active in Lamar Baptist Church. He is passionate about teaching and sharing the truth from God’s Word to all people (migrants in particular). Chinchin has a burden for the children of the migrant community, to know Jesus as they grow up.
Chinchin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Delhi University in India and his Bachelor of Divinity from Union Biblical Seminary in Pune (Senate of Serampore, India). He went on to pursue and attain his Master of Divinity and Master of Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He speaks 4 languages: English, Hindi, Manipuri, and Zo, his first language. Before he came to SWBTS in 2012 to pursue further studies, he served as the Pastor at Zo Christian Bible Church in Imphal, Manipur. Chinchin and his wife, Chong (Nemneichong) Tungnung, have been married for 22 years and are blessed with three girls.
